(Mar del Plata, Argentina) – January 19, 2022 – Wanchese Fish Company, a division of Cooke Seafood USA, is launching its newest shrimp trawler, F/V Destiny for operations in southern Argentine waters for the 2022 season.

Built by the Astilleros Armon shipyard in Spain, at a value of $15 million CAD, the Destiny will be one of the newest and most modern fishing vessels in the Argentine shrimp industry.

The Destiny is 42.93 meters in total length and 11.10 meters in total width and has a maximum deadweight tonnage of 885. In addition to the latest processing technology, the fishing vessel includes Ibercisa electric trawl winches for the outrigger system. Ibercisa winches are finely designed and machined for precision. Safety and comfort are a top priority for Wanchese, so the vessel offers her crew superior accommodations for their trips at sea.

Vibrant in colour and sweet in taste, world-renowned Argentine red shrimp is wild-caught and comes to Wanchese customers as frozen at sea whole shrimp, shell-on tails or peeled and deveined and ready to be cooked.

“Destiny and her crew will deliver the highest quality products available in the Argentine fishery and will provide our customers with products meeting the strictest specifications,” said Ross Butler, CEO of Cooke Seafood USA. “We are very excited that the Destiny will be fully commissioned and ready to participate in the 2022 season.”
